Halloween Special: APPLAUSE

Happy Halloween!
It's my favorite holiday,
and I'm giving you some extra makeup fun!

HOW TO: Lady Gaga's ARTPOP look

All you'll need is your basic Halloween oil-based cream makeup. Doesn't need to be any kind of good quality! You can pick up a palette for cheap at your local party specialty store.

And yes, I am aware that my look  was flipped! Product of being really left handed.

Step One: Base Layer
The Base Coat of this look is a very flushed, yet prominent white. I covered my face in white oil-based cream color, then matted it down with my every day winter face powder to keep me from looking like a total ghost. Since this is not her white-driven face look, you want to avoid the ghost effect.
Step Two: Map Out Your Color
Your face shape is not necessarily the same as Gaga's, so you'll want to use where she places the color according to her facial features as a guide for placing yours. For instance, Gaga has red from a rainbow gradient intersecting her lip so even though my rainbow was shorter because my face is shorter, the red still intersects my lip. Mark your place with a thin layer of the color in question.
Step Three: Begin Building Layers
Start with the darkest colors in the look and begin building your layers. Blend with your fingers or a high quality makeup sponge to draw the most pigment out of your cream color. The blue around the eyes and the red on the forehead is a good place to start.
Step Four: Rainbow Eye
The rainbow eye was the simplest part of the look. Use a bit of each color according to ROYGBIV and blend with your fingers. Between 1-3 layers should do the tricks. The makeup should be the most opaque in the center of the rainbow and blend out. Remember the blue should be on your eyelid and the red should be on your lip. Go ahead and do your blue eyebrow too.
Step Five: Chin and Nose Contour
Best to think of this as contouring with color! Try not to make it too opaque at the risk of it coming out blotchy. Blend the blue and green alongside your chin, following your bone. Apply a bit of blue in the corner of your nose and blend it out, again keeping the most opaque point in the center of the color.
Step Five: White Eyebrow + Fire Forehead
This was the most challenging part for me. Start with the red you mapped out in step one and being building a fire colored (Red, Yellow, Orange) gradient on your forehead. Leave enough room for it to be carried up your forehead, and leave space for your eyebrow to be whited out. The yellow should be the outermost color. Apply a bit of white cream color to your eyebrow and blend it.
Final Step: Red Lips
Put on some red lipstick or simply use pure red cream color on your lips! You can mattify it with a bit of baby powder- I recommend mattfying the whole look. The lipstick shouldn't be precise.

And you're ready to receive ALL the applause!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN DOLLS!
Expect more of me today (:
