Vice 2

Urban Decay Vice 2 - Holiday 2013

If you know my makeup, you know a staple in my collection is my Urban Decay Vice Palette, a $60 palette from UD's 2012 Holiday collection- boasting 20 exclusive-to-the-palette shades in a variety of mattes, shimmers, neutrals and colors. Recently, UD has made the most popular shades from that palette available in a variety of forms. Matte, electric blue "Chaos" is available in a 24/7 liner and matte pink-beige neutral "Laced" (One of the more unique shades in the palette according to Temptalia) is available as a single pan. The Vice is wonderful for people fan of color and contrast and appeals to fans of UD who just aren't into the whole " naked" thing.

Recently, UD began teasing it's 2013 Holiday collection and, to the glee of Vice lovers such as myself, they have released that the are in fact revamping Vice this season. VICE 2 is the  eye palette of the UD Holiday 2013 collection and while we don't know much about it, here's what I can gather.

If you go on the UD Facebook, you can enter to win and get a better look at products from the Holiday 2013 collection. Here's their official photo teaser of Vice 2-

That's an actual screenshot from my phone. There are some serious likenesses between Vice 1 and 2. There's an obvious Blitz, Junkie, and Freebird (perhaps Laced?) dupe in there. The Vice 2 Blitz dupe appears to be more yellow-gold than Blitz, and the Junkie dupe seems more emerald than teal. It would appear that Vice 2 is a continuation of the color-contrast theme UD began in Vice 1. Jagged (The WORST shade in Vice 1) appears to have a cousin in Vice 2. Maybe UD heard our prayers and tried again at the olive-brown shade they butchered in their first attempt. I really wanted to like Jagged, and maybe now, I will. Only time (and swatches!) will tell.

I'm a little disappointed, however, that Vice 2 will be including the same double-ended Good Karma brush that Vice 1 featured. They have to figure that the people who will be purchasing 2 will be in the same market as the people who bought 1. I don't need two of the same brush. It appears to be the exact same brush. Couldn't they include a decent sized primer or lip product? The packaging of Vice is something gurus either loved or hated. I thought it was neat, and very sturdy. Smaller and better equipped than the infamous Book of Shadows. They appeared to keep to the same rubberized plastic theme here in Vice 2, but with a fun tie-dye pattern. Cool!

Some of the color names are visible in these photos from swatchesandwhatnot.blogspot.com. Radar looks like Penny Lane's darker cousin and that's exciting because Penny Lane rocked. They also seem to of included a white in this palette, which is something the original Vice lacked. It looks shimmery, however, so I wonder if it will be a good base.

All in all, Vice 2 seems like a solid investment for collectors and lovers of Urban Decay and eyeshadow alike. I can't wait to get my hands on it, and I can't wait to see swatches and read reviews. I'll certainly post one as soon as I can. I'm really excited! There are drawbacks, such as potential dupes and the same brush, but it might be worth it for the same reason it's worth it to own both Naked palettes for anyone who loves them. Novelty, if nothing else. But I use my Vice Palette almost every day, so I'll definitely be awaiting the day I can play with this new version and see what UD might of improved in a year.

Stay tuned! Refresh the UD Facebook page, check out the blog I mentioned (swatchesandwhatnot.blogspot.com) and enter that giveaway for a closer look!

Nervously awaiting the Holiday 2013 makeup season!

xoxo
